About Ken Anderson Photography
Ken Anderson is a Canadian wildlife photographer and tour leader with more than 12 years of experience guiding specialized wildlife photography workshops. He is best known for his Great Grey Owl tours, regarded as one of Canada’s most complete and rewarding owl photography experiences.
Ken began photographing in 1985 with a Minolta Maxxum 700, starting in alpine skiing and sports before shifting toward wildlife in 2010. His deep connection to nature and strong technical background led him to create workshops that bring photographers up close to Canada’s most iconic species in a responsible and meaningful way.
Today, Ken leads a curated selection of all-inclusive wildlife photography workshops across North America. His offerings include Atlantic Puffins in Quebec’s Mingan Archipelago, the Ultimate Bald Eagles of Canada on the remote BC coast, Coastal Brown Bears in Katmai, Alaska, Polar Bears in Churchill, and his signature Great Grey Owl experiences in Alberta and BC. Each workshop focuses on exceptional access, small groups, comfortable accommodations, and smooth logistics so participants can stay fully immersed in the photography.
Respect for wildlife is the foundation of Ken’s guiding philosophy. There is no baiting, no flushing, and no harassment. He believes the best images come from patience, understanding, and observing natural behaviour as it unfolds. With years of field experience and a strong knowledge of seasonal rhythms and animal patterns, Ken helps photographers create authentic images while minimizing disturbance to the wildlife and land.
Every workshop is designed with thoughtful planning, from timing and location to group size and daily flow. Participants can expect an experience that is educational, ethical, and unforgettable.
Ken’s mission is simple: to connect people with the wild, inspire appreciation for Canada’s natural heritage, and help photographers capture images that tell meaningful stories of the animals that call these landscapes home.
